Testimonials

I have worked with Cidon Construction on two Energy From Waste projects for CNIM, Earls Gate in Grangemouth and Lostock in Northwich. Both of these Projects involved some challenging and complex works which Cidon managed in a professional and competent manner. The Cidon Management Team and Site Staff are excellent at what they do and always willing to work with others to find practical solutions to whatever challenges come their way.

John Holmes, Civils Construction Manager, CNIM

The Paterson building was a complex building on an extremely tight site, in a live hospital environment in a residential area, so it was key we selected the right RC frame contractor. Cidon were engaged early to provide cost and buildability advice on the structure. The capping beam was started in April 2020, just as the Covid pandemic hit. It is testament to both parties that the works continued, largely unaffected, in these most trying of times for the construction industry. Every level of the building from basement to roof, presented its own unique difficulties, which the Vinci and Cidon team tackled together to great success. There were many challenges along the way, however Cidon’s non-adversarial approach meant solutions were agreed promptly and the works progressed in line with the required timescales. Cidon’s team delivered the waterproof basement and superstructure to the required standard, on programme in a safe and efficient manner. The final account was agreed relatively early in the process and Cidon have been obliging in undertaking several return visits for further instructed works. To this end I would have no problem in recommending Cidon for any project and look forward to working with them again in the near future.

Peter Dodd, Project Director, Vinci

Cidon were the appointed as the insitu concrete frame subcontractor for our Edinburgh Park office building NW1a. The client’s vision for the concrete on the building was for it to be of a high visual quality. The visual concrete specification for the office building had been developed with Cidon and was based on the visual concrete they had produced for the Arts and Humanities building in Manchester. The visual concrete required by the project was challenging to produce as it required several specific control measures to be deployed by Cidon. The Cidon site team have worked incredibly hard to collaboration with the McAlpine team to achieve the desired visual concrete finish. The Cidon team have overcome not only the challenges of the Scottish weather, a demanding client team and concrete specification, but also the challenges brought about by the Covid 19 Pandemic. The concrete finish achieved by the Cidon site team has received specific praised from the client and their advisors. The Cidon site team have done an excellent job and produced a high-quality visual concrete finish that meets the clients exacting specification. The whole of the Cidon site team have been hardworking and professional in their approach and have at all times worked to the highest safety standards.

John Cole, Project Director, Sir Robert McAlpine

Lane End engaged with Cidon early in the process to deliver to the Drainage, Substructure and Superstructure works for the Academy Street project in Warrington. Cidon's proactive approach throughout the planning and construction phases enabled a quality concrete frame to be delivered safely to programme. Their flexibility in taking on additional works, in this case the SFS and external boarding gave us a seamless transition to the façade works with relatively few issues. Any matters were dealt with between the parties in a fair and timely fashion, and from a commercial perspective, the final account was easily settled to our mutual satisfaction. I would not hesitate in recommending Cidon and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Cidon completed the RC frames for SRM on the Embankment West project in Salford. With an order value of just under £10m, they progressed 3 number 18 storey frames concurrently, mixing traditional and PT, their approach was collaborative, quality was very good and progress was in line with the agreed programme, which was developed with them. They were attentive and helpful in the PCSA stage and delivered on site as expected. When Covid 19 first hit, they were the first to introduce revised methods of working in order to maintain some level of output. I would definitely recommend Cidon to others and I'm sure I will be working with them again.

Pete Finegan, Project Manager, Sir Robert McAlpine

Throughout the delivery of our project The Spine, Cidon demonstrated an excellent level of technical knowledge; ensuring a consistently high standard of safety and quality at all times, with the correct procedures in place.  The team are well established, and competent for any task given with a fantastic aptitude to working throughout the day.  Cidon were a pleasure to work with, both during the planning and construction phases, overall delivering an exceptional project and service ahead of programme.  I would I highly recommend them.

The building at stood the remarkable fine finish patterned concrete columns. This required a high level of quality control from mix design to formwork detailing to achieve this aesthetic outcome.  The team’s technical knowledge was exceptional, to a point that Morgan Sindall requested the technical team to deliver a number of bespoke workshops on concrete and specifications in our Knowledge Quarter.  It is clear that Cidon have a genuine interest and commitment to training and apprentices, something which this project and local area really saw the benefit from.

Ben Wolstenholme, Project Manager, Morgan Sindall

Sir Robert McAlpine partnered with Cidon Construction during the PCSA phase to deliver the drainage, substructure, and superstructure works for a landmark Build to Rent development in Salford Quays, comprising 614 apartments. Having worked successfully with Cidon on previous projects, we were confident in their ability, capacity, and enthusiasm to plan, design, and execute what became a £12m+ package of works. Cidon’s multidisciplinary team was a pleasure to work with throughout both the planning and construction phases. Words such as professional, considerate, driven, and collaborative accurately describe the entire site team—from project management to concrete finishers.

The result was a first-class concrete frame delivered with the quality we expected and ahead of schedule. This early completion allowed follow-on trades to begin sooner, securing our overall construction programme. Both Sir Robert McAlpine and our client are highly satisfied with the outcome. Cidon Construction will remain at the top of our list for RC contractors, and I highly recommend them for future projects.

Mike Rider, Project Manager, Sir Robert McAlpine

Cidon was our first choice for the concrete frame for the 135 bedroom apartment scheme at Port Street for Mulbury City Ltd. Their performance and knowledge is second to none with safety as paramount to the company ethos and workforce discipline towards the project and project management teams. Good and intensive knowledge of working at heights, planning and safety procedures are first class with limited stoppages for any egresses to safety, a well-established multi-disciplined works force competent for any task given and shown to them with a fantastic aptitude to working throughout the day “no task a problem”. Any Training shortages (if any) are rectified straight away, from their training department and refresher course given onsite and independent parties. I wouldn’t hesitate to involve and employ Cidon for any future works on concrete frames and concrete works including drainage, excavation works. A great company with a fantastic work ethic!

Excelsior Works has been a technically and logistically challenging project. However, Cidon's "can-do" attitude and proactive approach have been instrumental in overcoming these obstacles, enabling us to successfully deliver the frame within a timescale that many believed was impossible.

Simon Young, Project Manager, GMI Construction

Student Castle procured Cidon Construction to carry out all sub-structure and superstructure concrete works, along with internal drainage works and the supply and installation of three tower cranes for this scheme. Due to the logistics of the site and the traffic management requirements in the city centre location, we held numerous meetings, both at head office and on-site, to coordinate and discuss the works, both commercially and constructively, in order to keep the project moving forward. We found Cidon and their on-site management team to be proactive in all aspects, particularly in relation to Health & Safety. All works were completed on schedule and within budget, with the final handover of the three blocks occurring two weeks ahead of programme. As mentioned, all tasks were executed with a high degree of workmanship and professionalism. We would certainly consider consulting with Cidon again should we decide to commission, design, and build further schemes in the future.

Bruce Parkin, Project Co-ordinator, Student Castle

On the X1 Aire project, Cidon performed to a very high standard in a totally professional manner. The quality of work produced was excellent, which was achieved whilst maintaining a very fast floor to floor cycle. This enabled Cidon to complete ahead of programme. The quality of staff and operatives was excellent; they displayed a professional and proactive attitude to design and construction issues. An exceptionally good working relationship developed between Cidon and Bardsley site teams which contributed greatly to the overall benefit of the project. The health and safety performance throughout the project was sustained at the highest level and must be commended.

Ian Hassard, Senior Project Manager, Bardsley Construction

I am writing with reference to the completed Spire Healthcare Scheme, in particular the scope of works carried out by Cidon Construction. Cidon Construction were awarded the concrete frame and enabling works package for a £35m private healthcare scheme in Didsbury, Manchester. I would like to congratulate Cidon Construction on the successful conclusion to their subcontract package works. Their overall performance and subsequent contribution to the project cannot be underestimated. Their approach and management of the works is testament to their professionalism and proactive attitude to matters both Construction and Fiscal. The Health & Safety performance on what is a complex project can only be commended. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Cidon Construction on future schemes.

John Fowler, Project Manager, Vinci Construction

I had the opportunity to work with Cidon on the South London EfW project in Croydon. Cidon successfully delivered a highly complex and challenging project within a tight programme. They were proactive in offering construction and design advice that benefited the wider project, and the technical understanding demonstrated by their site team was exceptional. Overall, it was a very professional and successful project for all involved. Commercially, we were always kept informed of any changes, which were clearly presented and agreed upon in a timely manner. I would be happy to recommend Cidon to anyone considering a concrete works package.

Alison Powell, Regional Commercial Manager, Lagan Construction

A monumental effort by all involved on what was a very challenging build, situated on a tight site with numerous logistical hurdles, a demanding programme, and a detailed, high-quality concrete specification. The standard of workmanship has been exceptional and has impressed many visitors to the site, including our client, Muse Developments, and the end user, South Tyneside Council. Cidon assembled a highly skilled and capable workforce who consistently cooperated with our requirements, maintaining high standards in all aspects from start to finish. Many thanks to everyone involved, and especially to the site Project Manager, who led the team excellently. I hope we have the opportunity to work together again in the near future.

John Osborne, Senior Project Manager, Bowmer & Kirkland

Following our client's late withdrawal of the previously agreed lightweight steel frame solution, we were impressed with Cidon's professional approach and "can-do" attitude. This resulted in the concrete frame design being completed, materials procured, and work commencing on-site within a very short timeframe. Thanks to their efforts, our construction works were able to start on time, avoiding any delays to the programme. Both the site team and project management team were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, often providing value-engineered solutions to overcome various challenges faced on-site. Additionally, their exceptional Health and Safety culture contributed to the successful completion of the project.

Joe Dickinson, Managing Quantity Surveyor, Keepmoat (Regeneration)

I had the opportunity of working with Cidon Construction on two projects, namely Cleveland EFW and Ferrybridge EFW. On each project, Cidon took control of these challenging and complex operations, successfully delivering each one while maintaining strong oversight on HSE, quality, and programme. Cidon Construction has a management and site staff of exceptional talent and experience, who are both adaptable and dependable — truly an asset to any project.

Alan Flynn, John Sisk & Son, Cleveland EFW / Ferrybridge EFW

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Cidon for high-quality concrete construction. The finish on the exposed walls was exceptional, and we worked closely with Cidon and Sir Robert McAlpine through an extensive mock-up process, during which Cidon provided invaluable input. One of the standout features of the project was the creation of three Driven Voids—6m diameter hollow concrete cylinders that extend 30m up through the building, tilting 12 degrees to provide structure, natural ventilation, and light to the centre of the building. The combination of steel shutters, self-consolidating concrete, and their exceptional placement techniques resulted in a concrete finish as smooth as silk. Cidon used a one-floor-high outer cylindrical shutter and two inside shutters, which allowed for the continuous sequencing of the voids.  Each void was carved with rectangular openings oblique to the tube, creating curved shapes that were blocked out with CNC-milled plywood. The openings feature the crispest edges and profiles I have ever seen in concrete

Chris McVoy, Steven Holl Architects, Glasgow School of Art, Seona Reid Building

Cidon Construction has consistently delivered high-quality workmanship across all four projects at Quartermile. Their performance on the two basement contracts was particularly notable, especially in managing complex temporary works. The team’s high standards of staff and operatives contributed greatly to the success of these projects. In terms of site organization and adherence to schedules, Cidon consistently met deadlines, completing all four phases of the scheme either ahead of or on schedule Commercially, Cidon maintained a fair and reasonable approach throughout their dealings. There are no concerns regarding Health and Safety, both on-site and in their documentation processes. I would highly recommend Cidon Construction for concrete works without hesitation.

Bruce McEwan, Sir Robert McAlpine, Quartermile - Four Phases

On behalf of myself and our site team, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for the swift and efficient progress made during the erection of the concrete frame for the tower block at Eastern Boulevard, Leicester, now known as 'The Summit.' We would also like you to convey our thanks to the Cidon team, who played a crucial role in driving the programme forward. Additionally, we greatly appreciated the technical and safety support provided throughout the scheme by your management team. Cidon’s ability to improve the floor-to-floor cycles and the innovative introduction of precast concrete columns gave us a solid foundation to achieve success in our own works. We couldn't have asked for a better starting platform. It was also gratifying to see that the final account was settled quickly and fairly, to our mutual satisfaction.
