Project Description

Appointed to deliver the concrete works at Earls Gate Energy Centre by French industrial engineering contractor CNIM. The project is part of Scotland’s ban on landfilling biodegradable municipal waste, which is expected to come into force in January 2021.
The scheme was set to replace an old gas fired plant, which will be one of the most efficient in the UK. When completed, the facility will convert 216,000 tonnes of waste, producing 79 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green electricity and 81GWh of heat in the form of steam each year.
Cidon delivered all of the structural concrete works to the £250m facility with 10,000m3 of concrete poured throughout. The works included a waste bunker (3,300m3), a boiler hall, turbine hall, tipping hall and ancillary buildings.
The scheme included all site infrastructure, buildings, roads, services, offices, workshops on this brown field occupying the South West corner of the larger Calachem site.
