Project Description

Our first project in this sector, Cidon were awarded the sub-structure and super-structure works for the energy from waste facility, Cleveland. The contract included 24,000m3 of concrete and 2000 tonnes of reinforcement with new client John Sisk.
The site was a three stream energy from waste facility, a community recycling centre, green waste composting and ash processing facility.
The facility was extended from the original two line plant to a three stream plant, with a combined processing capacity of 390,000 tonns of community waste per year.
Unique Features

- Integrating the use of precast concrete and temporary works innovation combined with in-house concrete pumping facilities allowed Cidon to maintain the programme, despite value and scope increasing by 30% from tender stage.
- Extensive temporary works capability required to develop appropriate schemes.
- Unique challenges faced, overcome, and lessons learnt as our first energy from waste project.
