Project Description

Initially appointed to deliver the earthworks and reinforced concrete package, in early 2022 Cidon took over as Principal Contractor for the civils works, contracted directly to LSEP.

The scheme will comprise of fifteen structures, including the waste bunker, boiler hall, turbine hall, tipping hall and associated buildings. 22,000m3 of concrete and 4000 tonnes of reinforcement will be placed throughout the project.

The £480m energy from waste (EfW) facility is located at the Tata Chemicals site near Northwich in Cheshire. It will recover energy cleanly and safely from approximately 600,000 tonnes of residual waste – the waste left over after reusable and recyclable material has been removed.

The facility is one of the largest investments at the Lostock site, funded through a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and FCC Environment.
