Cidon were appointed to deliver the earthworks and reinforced concrete package to this large scale EFW site for new client Acciona.

The scheme of fifteen structures, including the waste bunker, boiler hall, turbine hall, tipping hall and associated buildings. 22,000m3 of concrete and 4000 tonnes of reinforcement placed throughout the project.

This energy from waste (EfW) facility located in West Bromwich, will divert 395,000 tonnes of residual waste.

The heat and power facility which will instead, use residual waste to generate 44MW (gross) of partially renewable, baseload electricity to power the needs of more than 95,000 U.K. homes.

  • Extensive experience in this sector enabled Cidon to develop robust and efficient design solutions for both Temporary and Permanent works.
  • 15000m3 Bulk excavations works to the bunker.
  • Reduced level dig and associated cropping of both CFA and secant piles
  • Installation of all process drainage, service ducts, pits, troughs and ancillary structures.
  • Waste bunker at 43.00 metres  x 25.00 meters wide and in excess of 24.00 meters high, constructed in 13 days using a slipform rig, operating 24 hours a day. The bunker will include 2500m3 of concrete and 500t of reinforcement.
