Project Description

The Seona Reid building is the extraordinary and unique extension to the existing Charles Rennie Mackintosh's 1909 Glasgow School of Art building situated in the heart of Glasgow City.

The structure was a two-storey basement, and a five-storey frame with three architectural driven voids cutting through the building. The "Driven Void" light shafts are inclined at 12 degrees and deliver natural light through the building. In addition, they provide vertical circulation throughout the building, eliminating the need for air conditioning.
